Where to wrap your lips around one of these iconic Vietnamese rolls

We’d say we’re in our Banh Mi era but we’re pretty sure this one’s a lifelong love affair.

That perfect combo of crispy and crunchy, soft and chewy, sweet and savoury, with a burst of freshness…and if you’re feeling brave, a little kick of spice too… mmm, so good!

It’s no surprise these incredible Vietnamese-style sangas have taken the world by storm! We’re so lucky to have so many spots around the Illawarra where we can grab our own delicious fix.

Here’s some bonza Banh Mi spots around the Illawarra to satisfy your cravings.

Sam’s Crusty Bread Shop: Iconic with the Banh Mi loving crowd. On the Highway in Corrimal

Peters Bakery: Another fan fave in Fairy Meadow.

PiPi’s Pork Rolls: A fab selection at this joint in Unanderra

QP Bakery: Hidden around the corner from the 7-11 in Berkeley. The staff are super friendly and the rolls are yummo-scrummo.

An Chut Chut: A cult fave in Wollongong with delish rolls as well as other awesome Vietnamese dishes.

Saigon Senses: Lunchtime on a weekday at this Crown Street Mall bakery is one busy place, and for good reason! They’ve got tasty vegan and veggie options as well.

Kiama Pie Shop: Rolls near the seaside, what more could you ask for? Right on Railway Parade in Kiama.

Roll Bowl Kiama: 4 fun options, all reasonably priced. Other exciting Vietnamese meals can be found on the menu as well.

Oak Flats Hot Bread: Highly reviewed and can be found on Central Ave in Oak Flats.


Krisp: On Prince Edward Drive in Dapto. Here you have the option to upgrade to a large size Banh Mi if you’re feeling extra hungry.

Viet Viral: Locations at Shellharbour Stockland and now in Dapto Mall as well, yay!

Baker Mall: Love the name, love the rolls. Inside Corrimal Park Mall.

J & J Bakery: You’ll likely find a lineup for a roll at this popular Woonona Bakery.

Sanhhuy Bakery: A well-loved spot in Thirroul with cheaply priced rolls and friendly service.

Warilla Bakery: You can even find this bakery on Menulog and Uber Eats if you feel like getting your goodies delivered right to your door.

Oz Banh Mi Wollongong: Banh Mi, donuts and cakes oh my! Right next the station, perfect for a post or pre train ride bite.

Baker’s Rounds: Find this one on the Highway in Albion Park Rail.

Quay Canteen: Trendy cafe serving Vietnamese rolls, top-notch coffee and other tasty delights.
