Our Story
Proudly Australian, Witchery was founded in South Australia in 1970, and from its very beginnings, offered affordable fashion for working Australian women. By the late 1980’s, the brand direction had evolved, taking on a premium and quality-focused fashion sensibility.
Expanding into David Jones in 2003, our now iconic label saw exponential growth. The longstanding and influential White Shirt Campaign was introduced in 2008 in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and retail stores went international, launching in both New Zealand and South Africa in 2010. This was all before becoming part of something bigger – the Country Road Group, in 2012.
In 2020, Witchery reached a monumental milestone, celebrating 50 Years of Australian Style. The anniversary was commemorated with a special signature collection that celebrated our iconic styles, with an unforgettable visual campaign.
Today, Witchery still stands for inspiring and quality-led design, with the objective to empower women to look and feel confident every day. A source of daily style inspiration, dressing women every day sits at the heart of what we do.
