It may still be winter, but August sure is heating up with things to do in The Illawarra. You can head to the pub for a sing-fest, chow down on bottomless baos (and margs) and even watch cows do ballet!

Every Tuesday at seafood legends South Sailor in Thirroul you can slurp down a steamy bowl of seafood curry, smoked fish and clam chowder or vegan curry for only 21 smackeroos. Why not add a $10 hot toddy to the mix to keep your tum even extra warm?

MARKET THAI // Gung’s Gourmet Thai at Kiama Farmers’ Market

Gung’s Gourmet Thai will be onsite at the Kiama Farmers’ Market on the 2nd of August to serve up their signature locally sourced, premium quality goodness. We’re just drooling at the sound of their 100% purebred Wagyu brisket spring rolls and fresh snapper Thai fish cakes, yum!

Spark a lifelong love for music in your little ones at this free music program for kids. We just cannot get enough of incredible community initiatives like this.

THE GOLDEN TICKET // Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Shellharbour Anglican College School will be performing this childhood classic from the 9th to the 12th of August. With original songs as well as music that pays homage to the iconic 1971 film this is sure to be a fab family hit.


JAZZ HANDS // Thursday Jazz Night at Ilu Ilu

Indian-inspired cocktail bar Ilu Ilu is hosting jazz music every Thursday night. Smooth tunes + tasty tapas and epic bevvies = perfecto!


SEW GOOD // Sit and Sew Patchwork and Quilting Workshop

Hobbysew in Figtree is holding weekly classes every Wednesday to inspire you to finish that patchwork you’ve been working on or even to get you started on a new one. Join anytime but bookings are essential.

Head to Shellharbour Civic Centre on the 16th of August for their monthly business owners meeting. An excellent opportunity to meet other business owners, discuss ideas and hear presentations by guest speakers to improve your business management skills.
