What’s On This Mother’s Day In The Illawarra

Treat Mum With One Of These Fab Experiences

By Hannah Castelli

It’s that time of the year! Time to spoil your mum, grandma, fave aunty, godmother, or any of the other amazing women that we’re sooooo grateful to have in our lives.

These women really do make the world go around and we believe they deserve only the best! And here in the Illawarra, there are lots of ways to do that with fab things to do, places to eat and drink and ways to say ‘thanks and you rock’ this Mother’s Day.

Check out our list below for some of the best haps around the traps, and when you’re done pop over to our Event Directory for even more ideas!

Breakfast Beauties

Breakfast in bed might be the old faithful, but why not save Mum from having to clean toast crumbs and coffee stains off the bed this year and take her out for brekkie instead?

Balthazar Champagne Bar in Wollongong is making the morning pop with a fab Mother’s Day Champagne Breakfast with yummy bites and lovely bubbles. The Shellharbour Club are dishing up a buffet brekkie and Pepe’s have got brunch sorted with their incredible cabanas and crackin’ brunch towers, [make sure to pre-order to avoid disappointment].

If you’re after something a little more casual, head out for brunch and cocktails by the beach at Diggies in North Wollongong! Enjoy live music by Sam McMahon and if you’re a little late in the gifting department, treat mum with a bunch of Hello Petal Flowers, available at the cafe from Friday! Double yay!

Another top choice is Georgia Rose in Shellharbour who are not only doing brekkie, but also lunch AND Sunday sessions in the arvo if your mum is more partial to a sleep-in, and hey who can blame her?

High Tea Style

High tea is indulgence at its finest! Cups of perfectly brewed tea [and maybe a glass of bubbles or two as well], dainty finger sandwiches, cutesy cakes and of course scones. No one actually needs an excuse to go for high tea but Mum’s day is probably the ultimate one!

There is a good selection of places offering High Tea’s this Mother’s Day so you can surely take your pick. Hideaway Lane is hosting an extra special Mother’s Day high tea this year on both days of the weekend with a lovely array of savoury and sweet treats.

Sketch Coffee and Art are bringing out all the high tea faves at their lovely modern space in Towradgi. Oh and the coffee here is top-notch so Mum will definitely be grateful for a java or two to go with her bites of goodness.

Balthazar Champagne Bar are also keeping the good times flowing with their Signature High Tea. This one’s for mums with older kiddies from ages 12 and up.

For a high tea that is great for those with little ones, Chante Kid’s Day Spa & High Tea are hosting a family-friendly high tea event on the 11th with a photo booth to keep things fun for everyone.

Getting the whole fam together for a niiiiiiceee long lunch will guarantee to put a smile on Mum’s face….and in her tummy!

For a bit of Latin flair, El Corazon Cocina De Mexico in Kiama is running some awesome Mother’s Day specials with live music and a delish sounding hot and cold seafood plate, fantastico!

Towradgi Beach Hotel is also celebrating all things ocean with a seafood tower that will make eyes pop and mouths water.

The Grange Golf Club is getting a little fancy with their Mother’s Day lunch selection with tasty nibbles like smoked trout and finger lime caviar, pepper berry organic chicken and wild rosella brulee. There will also be plenty of fun activities and entertainment throughout the day and a photographer to capture happy snaps.
