New Year’s Eve Illawarra Style

Say sayonara to 2024 with a fab night out this NYE

The Illawarra is a pretty epic spot to spend a New Year’s Eve. There are loads of great options for places to celebrate bringing in 2025.

We’ve searched from the top to the bottom of town to bring you some super fun ideas for all ages.

So, if you’re after family fireworks, champers and canapes, party-party-party, or chill bar vibes, the Illawarra has got you covered.

Here are some of our top picks, and don’t forget to check out our events guide for even more ideas.

“For Auld Lang Syne”.

1:: New Years’ Eve at Wests Illawarra

A themed cocktail, food specials and karaoke…. sounds like a fab trio if you ask us!

No tickets required for this one so just bring your pals and your singing voice.

2:: NYE at North Gong Hotel

It’s well known with locals that North Gong goes OFF on New Year’s Eve, and this year it’s gonna be doubly wicked. Cub Sport will be headlining the night, along with other popular acts like Bag Raiders and The Vanns.

There’ll also be DJs and plenty of space to bust a move… or two. Tix are on sale now and they’re likely to sell out so grab yours stat.

3:: Kiama NYE Sky Show

We love this firework show that happens every year over Kiama Harbour. With the fun kicking off at 4pm, there’s the live music and DJs, kids’ carnival, food stalls, and roving performers to keep the whole gang entertained.

The fireworks spectacle lights up the harbour at the family-friendly hour of 9pm. We absolutely adore this timing because let’s face it, keeping the little ones up until midnight [or even the parents] isn’t ideal, and now you don’t have to.

4:: New Year’s Eve 2024 @ Adrift Pool Bar

Pool Partaaaaaay!

Presale tix for this one are already sold out and the earlier you book the lower the price, so get on it peeps.

The cabana option also sounds pretty epic for groups of 10 as it comes with bottle service and food, nice.

5:: New Years Eve at The Co-Op Gerringong

A HUGE lineup of live music starting from 5:50pm, this sounds like one helluva way to boogie in the new year.

There’ll also be a food truck on site for munching and a bar for sipping. Make sure to don your best party-ready glam!

6:: NYE @ Little Betty’s

This sounds oh-so-french and oh-so-divine.

Start with Sydney Rock Oysters and a glass of Louis Roederer [ooh la la].

Followed by a special pre-fix menu.

Then get groovin’ to the DJ from 9pm. Bookings are essential.

7:: New Year’s Eve at Wollongong

Another gorgeous fireworks display, this time over Wollongong Harbour. Head down to Belmore Basin from 5pm for food trucks, street entertainers and a 9pm fireworks display.

They send those fireworks way up high in Wollongong, so you’ll have loads of awesome spots to catch a great view. And the free Gong Shuttle Bus will be running until 10.30pm, so no need to stress about finding a spot to park.

8:: New Year’s Eve Feat. Pockets Duo

Head to Warilla Sporties for some disco goodness. Tickets are $45 per person but include a $25 club voucher… not a bad deal.

Make sure to secure your spot in advance.

9:: Market Street Block Party

This one’s set to be a biggun’. The Illawarra Hotel is bringing its Block Party back and they’re promising a hit.

The famous Silent Disco, right in the middle of Market Street! Plus, live acts on the courtyard stage and a midnight fireworks show.

Grab a VIP ticket in advance to secure your spot and skip the queue.

10:: Ultimate Tina at Illawarra Yacht Club

Ring in the New Year in style by grabbing your ticket to this fun Tina Turner tribute act!

Get ready for singing, dancing, and plenty of “rollin’, rollin’… rollin’ on the river”… Oops, we can’t help ourselves, Tina just has that effect!

11:: Dicey’s Riley’s NYE Pirate Party

Rock in the New Year at Dicey Riley’s in Wollongong. There’ll be live music until late and prizes for best dressed pirates. Arr me hearties!

Entry is $25 for 1 or 2 for $40 and will come with a complimentary Captain Morgan Rum [very fitting for the theme] or Champers. Grab your tickets at the bar or online.
