It’s Time For The 2024 Shine Like Charli Ball
What to expect from this incredible community event that supports families fighting childhood cancer.
After two amazing years of uniting our incredible community to support families battling childhood cancer, this event is back for a third year and set to be even better!
Held in the beautiful Grand Ballroom at the Novotel Wollongong, expect a night filled with sparkle and shine, entertainment, food and drink, heartwarming moments, and unforgettable memories.
What is the Shine Like Charli Ball:
This annual get-together is all about raising awareness for childhood cancer. There’s a huge need for more funding for critical research, and we think this is an awesome way to get the community involved and make a difference.
“My daughter Charli was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia – blood cancer in 2020. Her treatment was 2 years long, so in 2022 we decided to mark the end of her treatment with a fundraising ball, and the Shine Like Charli Ball was born!” Charli’s mum Faye told us.
Since then, the balls have been a massive success raising much needed funds and spreading awareness and support for childhood cancer.

“At the Shine Like Charli Ball, you can expect amazing live entertainment, inspiring speakers, delicious food and drinks, and the great feeling of knowing you’re helping to fund research to cure childhood cancers,” says Faye.
This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland, which sounds, well, wonderful!
“We chose to have that theme this year because childhood cancer is like going down a rabbit hole and not knowing what you’ll find or where you’ll come out,” Faye adds.
The dress code is colourful, shiny, and bright with a touch of sparkle. We highly recommend adding that Alice in Wonderland twist. Think white aprons with black bows, big top hats, hearts and spades, or even bunny ears! Get creative and have fun with it!
Oh, and heads up there’ll be a prize for Best Dressed on the night as well!
The ball will be a night of fun, awareness, inspiration, and DANCING – lots of dancing!

The Shine Like Charli Ball will be held on Saturday the 22nd of June. It kicks off at 6:30pm and runs until 11:30pm.
Tickets include a delish 3-course meal, a four-hour drinks package, live entertainment and inspiring speakers.
All profits from this unforgettable gala will go to the Children’s Cancer Institute, the only independent medical research institute in Australia entirely focused on curing childhood cancer.
The tickets usually sell out pretty quickly, so make sure to grab yours ASAP.
“Every year, 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer, and 3 lose their lives each week,” Faye
tells us.
“Among the survivors, 70% suffer long-term side effects from their treatment, such as organ dysfunction, neurocognitive deficits, impaired fertility, and secondary cancers. To prevent this, we need more funding for crucial research to discover less toxic treatments and ultimately find a cure for all childhood cancers. That’s why this event is so important. The backing from our community can make a real, tangible difference to the lives of children like Charli who deserve to live a long life.”
