A Guide To Homewares In The Illawarra

Which Stores To Hit Up For Some Interior Inspo + Beautiful Homewares

Our gal Dorothy had it right when she said, “there’s no place like home”.

These last few years have had us giving our homes a tougher work-out than ever before.

But with all this time indoors, no doubt things are starting to get a little worn and tired. Maybe you’re sick of staring at that same chipped teacup you were gifted by a stranger at your wedding years ago, perhaps your dining table has suffered one too many scratches from the kids dumping their school bags on it, or there’s just that space in your hallway that you have absolutely no idea what to fill with.

All gravy baby – we’ve sourced 12 ab-fab homewares stores here in the Illawarra to give your home the  jhooshing it needs.

And bonus! All of these and a ton more can be found in our Shop Local Directory. Better add that tab to your favourites, people.

1 :: COCOON TRADING Thirroul

Full of hidden treasures and unique handmade pieces, this is a lovely homewares and furniture store. Many of the pieces are ethically produced and there are some pretty special tribal pieces to be admired here. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of goodies that is well worth checking out.

2 :: MAISY & CO Woonona

Maisy & Co are all about beautiful things and they have a lot to choose from. Make sure to take your time browsing their chock-a-block array of homewares and furnishings. Maybe even pick up a lil’ something for your pooch from their darling selection of pet wares as well. Nothing says ‘my house is totally put together’ like a puppy with a tartan bow tie collar playing in the backyard!

3 :: BLU EMPORIUM CORNER STORE Keiraville

It’s like Narnia for shopaholics and you could straight up lose yourself for hours inside – don’t say we didn’t warn you.

10 :: INDIGO ROSE HOME LIVING Kiama

Anyone who has been to Kiama has probably remarked on how gorgeous the Historic Terrace Houses are on Collins Street. Indigo Rose Home Living is located inside one of the houses and is just as gorgeous on the inside. Stunning eclectic pieces with an earthy vibe is what they’re all about. And for the young, and young at heart, they sell a selection of rubber ducks, that’s right the kind you put in the bath. They’re called ‘Deluxe Ducks’…. we’re particularly fond of the Diva Duck but maybe the Pirate or Princess Duck is more your thing. Each to their own we say!

11 :: MILKWOOD HOME Berry

Formerly The Picnic Shed and baby sister to the deeeelish Milkwood Bakery, this little store stocks some beautiful homewares goods.
