21 Kids Birthday Party Ideas In The Illawarra

....that will REALLY take the cake

Kids’ birthday parties are just the best, aren’t they?

You can go all out with the glitter and the sugar, and nobody bats an eye because, well, it’s a kids’ birthday party!

And how good is fairy bread??? It’s basically a national party dish.

From toddler to teen and every age in between, here are 15 kids’ birthday party ideas for getting those good times in the Illawarra.

Empowering Kids Vision Workshops

We absolutely LOVE the sound of this for a party. Spark imagination with She Made’s vision-board parties where kids craft collages of goals, dreams, and inspirations using magazines, stickers, and affirmations. Workshops include guided activities, materials, and optional catering. Ideal for ages 6–12.

2 :: Hangdog Climbing Gym

The kids will literally be climbing the walls here and every party package includes all the bits that the partygoers will need to start their ‘up the wall’ adventure. With unlimited climbing for the entire duration of the party, along with a dedicated party host to ensure everything runs smoothly and to lend a hand with the ropes, your adventure-loving little ones are bound to be all for this!

You can choose to BYO food [fairy bread included obvs] or add on the catering to ease the load.

3 :: Skates On

Roller skating birthday parties have been a thing forever and for good reason! Kids usually have loads of energy to burn and spinning around on skates helps them burn it… match made in heaven!

Go Skating in Oak Flats has roller skating party packages for a minimum of 10 people that include entry and skate hire as well as unlimited cordial and water. You can choose to add catering or BYO.

There’s even the option to have the whole rink to yourselves for a private party of 40 or more.

4 :: P-Arty

Let the kids use all their creative talents with one of these awesome p-arty spots.

The Sip Studio in Wollongong hosts parties for 6 – 13-year-olds and have some absolutely adorable painting designs to choose from. We’ll admit we’re partial to the option of the pineapple wearing sunglasses… so darn cute!

Pinot and Picasso also hold kids’ parties for 6 – 16-year-olds and they can partner with local catering companies too if you’re looking to get snacks and goodies provided as well. Plus, if you’re keen to add a personal touch to the event, you can submit your own art idea to the studio, and they’ll do their best to bring your vision to life.

Creative Ark Studios in Corrimal have arty options with three different workshops that are all fun and educational. Food and drinks are all provided, BYO cake.

5 :: Illawarra Inflatable Play Centre

Towering slides, obstacle courses, bounce houses and so much more. We almost wish there was one of these play centres just for grown-ups!

Party packages come with entry to the play centre for 2 hours. Snacks and goodies can be added on for an extra charge.

6 :: Flip Out

Keeping with the theme of jumping around, Flip Out has locations in both North Wollongong and Albion Park where the kids can become one with the trampoline.

There are six different styles of packages to choose from depending on how much bounce your budget can take and all include at least an hour of jump time plus those funky Flip Out Grip Socks to ensure maximum jump-age.

At Strike Bowling in Wollongong, the birthday kid plays for free with all parties larger than 10 and there’s the choice of bowling, laser tag or even both! We’re also loving the sound of the Rock ’n’ Bowl package for the teens which includes Mocktails on arrival, cool!

9 :: Time Zone

With more than 70 super fun arcade games as well as bumper cars, laser tag and bowling lanes, a group of little revellers could really go off here!

All packages include unlimited play on some of the games as well as power tickets [extra for the birthday kid… nice] and a dedicated party host to keep the day running smoothly.

10 :: Science Space

We love this idea for something a little bit unique but still totally awesome. The children can explore 2 floors of science exhibits as well as take part in a themed science activity led by their dedicated science host.

With themes like bubbles, volcanoes and dinosaurs for the 3 – 5-year-olds and rockets, slime, make & shake and flying machines for the 6 – 12-year-olds, we think all young inquisitive minds will love this.

10 :: Jamberoo Action Park

Perfect for parties in the warmer months of the year, this action park is packed with water rides and slides as well as other fun attractions.

The park has picnic areas, barbeques and an onsite cafe and kiosk if you’re looking to be a bit more DIY. But if you’d prefer to hand over the reins to someone else then check out the ‘Sammy Birthday Party Celebration’ which includes entry to the park as well as lunch, a cake, an exclusive party area, decorations and invites as well as a special visit from Sammy the Shark, woo!

11 :: Gravity Gym

Choose from a Ninja Warrior Bash or Gymnastics Fun at this family-friendly fitness club in Warrawong. If you’ve got some thrill seekers on your hands then they will love the Parkour Party Extravaganza with 1.5 hours of parkour action, and for the little ones, the preschool pirates option is full of play.

12 :: Tabatinga

Located inside Dapto Leagues Club we love the Tabatinga indoor play centre for kid-friendly fun. But did you know they also do birthday parties? Neat, right?

All packages include party food, a themed room, decorations and party bags. You can choose from Jungle, Pirate or Princess themes.

13 :: Revolution Laser Arena

This is laser tag cranked up to the max! With special briefings and missions to complete, the party pals will be fully immersed in every challenge. Plus, there are different levels of gameplay to suit every budget.

And for kids who prefer outdoor adventures, they also offer Mobile Archery Tag parties, ideal for children aged over 10. It’s like laser tag meets the Hunger Games, combining bow and arrow action for loads of fun!

15 :: Go Kids Play

Go Kids Play is an amazing play centre filled with climbing, jumping and sliding joy. And for the grown-ups, the cafe also serves up some pretty darn decent eats [eggs benny and chia bowls – yum]! With a range of party packages and top-notch coffee for the grown-ups we can’t recommend this spot enough.

16 :: Miss Zoe’s School of Dance

19 :: Green Connect Farm

We love the idea of booking a private farm tour to explore the farm and meet the animals. You can even choose to add on some workshops or hire out the children’s garden for your exclusive use.

20 :: Holey Moley Golf Club

So much fun! Pop-culture-themed mini-golf, in a fun setting – what’s not to love? There’s music, drinks, and always loads of laughs.

21 :: Illawarra Light Railway Museum

We know a lot of kids who would love to ride restored steam and diesel trains through bushland, explore railway history, and enjoy miniature train rides. The museum includes picnic areas and a playground. Perfect for families. Wheelchair accessible on some rides

There you go! If we’ve missed any, let us know but that should keep the kids on a celebration [and probably sugar] high for a while!
