Gerroa certainly packs a punch for some epic outdoor adventures combining water activities and nature packed exploring on terra firma. The famous Seven Mile Beach is a popular holiday destination in the summer months with water thrills on tap. Surfers can catch some epic tubes in the right conditions and a good fisherperson knows there are some magic spots to catch a bream or flathead, not to mention some great prawning on the new moon at the river mouth.
On a Nor-Easter wind, check out the kitesurfers enjoying the massive playground of smooth waves. Paddleboarders can have fun in the sun either catching waves or families enjoying the quiet waters of the river to have a splash.
The joining of the Crooked River into the long stretch of pristine Seven Mile beach calls for fun times and plentiful surfing waves and fish. The Crooked River mouth is a great place to catch some rays with a book or watch the kids splash in the crystal clear shallow water. There’s a good reason why the local caravan park is a very popular hangout for holiday makers in the summer months – there’s just so much to do!
The Sandtrack North bushwalk takes you through sand dunes and rainforest, enjoying bird calls and sand in your toes when you reach the spectacular Seven Mile beach. A 3km walk each way – it’s a great way to get your step count up and soothe the soul in nature.
If you feel like exploring with the pooch off leash, check out the Black Head Reserve on the headland for some great whale watching vistas and views to Point Perpendicular. For your social feeds, fabulous golden hour photos can be snapped here – definitely #nofilter required!
Take a wander and do some further exploring down to the rock platform. You can check out the rock pools and fossilised shells in the rock platform at low tide, some really well preserved brachiopods and gastropods for fossil nerds out there!
