A new initiative, “Changing The World… One Chromosome at a Time”, is set to bring transformative support and creative opportunities to individuals with Down syndrome (T21), their families, and medical and educational professionals across regional and rural communities of New South Wales (NSW).
Sponsored by Scrapheap Adventure Ride Grants and Down Syndrome Australia, and delivered by Celebrate T21 and The Illawarra Music Foundry, this multifaceted project is designed to foster personal growth, creativity, and inclusion for the T21 community, while enhancing awareness among key professionals.
“This initiative offers something for everyone – from allied health professionals and carers through to T21 families and individuals – it’s about creative expression, creativity and community-building,” said Stephanie Rodden, Founder of Celebrate T21.
Berry, NSW will be the first stop on this tour, kicking off a three-day celebration during the second week of the NSW school holidays. From Friday, 11th October through Sunday, 13th October, the event will feature a range of exciting activities.
The festivities will open with a Breakfast for medical, allied health, and education professionals on Friday morning, followed by a Pop-Up Photographic Exhibition that will run for two days. The exhibition will be open to the public, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the T21 community, with no registration required for Saturday viewings.
On Friday, participants can immerse themselves in Mini T21 Rockers and a Sip & Create session, offering enriching and creative experiences. Sunday will shine with the Superstar Experience, an exciting one-day production set experience where individuals with T21 of all ages can showcase their talents and personalities in front of the camera.
Due to limited places and catering, registrations are essential for all activities, excluding the exhibition on Saturday, where visitors are welcome to pop in.
Signing up to this list may just be the best decision you’ve ever made.
We’ll send you an email each week with what’s on around Illawarra. New local businesses to support. Things to do. Places to see. All the good stuff to get you out and about, livin’ the good life.
