Or when you’re just not in the mood to trade your cosy trackies and uggs for fancy clothes to dine out?

That’s when trusty takeaway saves the day! There are soooo many spots around the Illawarra to grab a tasty take-home meal. We’ve rounded up a bunch to get you inspired. From fresh and flavorful to a little bit cheeky, plus options for our GF pals, there’s something for your next chill night in.

Here’s a taste of the tastiness:

Fresh And Flavourful

For those nights when you want something wholesome and delicious without the cooking hassle. Keep it nutritious and tasty while you enjoy a relaxed evening at home.

South Sailor

This Thirroul seafood restaurant has a takeaway menu full of fresh seafood-y goodness. We’re totally loving the sound of the ‘Date Night’ options as well as all the Poke Bowls. The meals are available for pick-up only, but you can browse the menu and place your order in advance on their website.

Karma Tea House

A vegan menu packed with delicious dishes that will make you forget all about meat. We’re huge fans of the BBQ Tofu Rice and the Vegan Crispy “Chicken” is always a hit. Located on Keira St in Wollongong the restaurant directly offers pick-up only. They are also listed on MenuLog for delivery.

Taste Of Asia Wollongong + Shellharbour

You can grab your next delicious Asian takeaway from one of the restaurant’s two spots around town. Think poke bowls loaded with colour and flavour, salads, vegan dishes, soups and plenty more. Both locations offer pickup and delivery, and you can score an extra 10% off on online orders right atm- score!

Classic Comfort Food

When you’re in the mood for familiar flavours and a snuggly night in, these comforting takeaway options hit the spot perfectly.

Chicko’s

Whilst we’re still mourning the loss of this iconic spot’s Wollongong location, we’re very grateful they’ve still got the OG Figtree spot. Chowing down on their MASSIVE schnitty burgers, complete with a free soft drink can, is practically a rite of passage in the Illawarra. Available for pick-up only.

El Danny’s Pizza

Ooo, we might get some Lake Heights locals salty for letting this absolute gem of a takeaway spot slip! Seriously, this local pizzeria is so popular, we’ve been known to call right at 5pm when they open, to place our order before the rush. They also do epic schnittys, pasta and other dishes. Delivery to surrounding suburbs as well as pick up.

Zia’s Caffe

Another popular Italian eatery further down the coast in Kiama. We adore indulging in creamy pasta or a meat lovers’ pizza on a chilly winter night from this spot. They offer plenty of other tasty options too. Delivery in the Kiama area and pick-up are available.

Glory Days

How flippin’ cool is this new takeaway joint that just opened up in the heart of Wollongong? We love the retro vibe here with crispy classics and juicy burgers, there’s a taste of coastal nostalgia in every bite. At this stage, it’s pick-up only available here.

Fancy Pants

Time to elevate your dining game without having to put on heels or a dress shirt. Treat yourself to some upscale flavours and gourmet delights all from the comfort of your couch.

Relish on Addison

Think Grilled Angus sirloin, caramelised onion, Tuscan potatoes & red wine jus or grilled South Australian king prawns, chorizo, roasted capsicum & marjoram butter- drool! Everything here is elevated, who cares if you’re eating it in your pj’s. Pre-order only for dinner.

Ambiance Ristorante

The ‘Pasta Pros’ of Unanderra also serve takeaway- YAY! We’ll definitely be ordering their Take Away Special for our next at-home date night. It comes with your choice of two starters and two pasta dishes, ideal for setting a ‘la bella vita’ vibe. Take-out available for pick-up only, with online ordering options available.

Explore global flavours from the comfort of your home, with cuisines ranging from Indian and Thai to Japanese and more, offering a delicious cultural journey for your taste buds.

Thai Old Town Restaurant

This new-ish spot in Corrimal has a massive menu filled with all the spices and flavours. We love a good lunchtime special but the dinner options are also reasonably priced. Delivery is available within 5 km and pick up as well.

Waterview Japanese Restaurant

Japanese food is so trendy right now, and for good reason! Salmon, Sushi, Teriyaki…. the list goes on. This Shell Cove restaurant offers local delivery, pick up and online ordering.

Embers In The Village

More than just butter chicken [although the butter chicken here is delish] they’ve got loads of fun dishes to try. We’re a sucker for their meal deals and family packs and we also think the 7 Day Lunch Pack is a pretty cool option. Available for pick up and delivery in the Windang area.

Gluten-Free Fun

Gluten-free options abound, meaning everyone can enjoy delicious takeaways without worries about gluten.

Woonona Pizza Kitchen

They offer gluten-free pizzas along with gluten-free penne, gnocchi, and spaghetti. Choose from classic pizza options like Hawaiian and Margarita, or try something different like Pesto Chicken or the Woonona Pizza, loaded with delicious toppings. Local delivery and pick up.

Fish Vibes Jones Beach

The menu is super allergen friendly here with gluten-free, lactose-free, nut-free, egg-free and vegetarian options. We love a classic Friday night chippy- with scallops of course! Pick-up only, orders can be made online.

Mmmm, now we’re seriously craving some takeout. Will it be pizza? Thai? Maybe Indian? Or how about some poke? Luckily, we can get them all in the Illawarra!
