The Older People’s Mental Health Service provides mental health assessment tailored to the needs of older people 65 years and over, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders 50 years and over.
What we do
The Older People’s Mental Health Service (OPMHS) team consists of: psychogeriatricians, nurses, a clinical psychologist, an occupational therapist, and a social worker. The OPMHS consults with different health care and community services about consumers’ care, including the Aged Care Assessment Team. OPMHS support other service providers through education and training. Further, they work with people individually or in groups, and deliver health promotion activities. Consumers under the OPMHS team’s care are allocated a care coordinator, and are provided with a plan for follow-up care.
