About us
Est. 2024
Elle (designer) & Ali (art therapist) are two local creatives coming together to build this new space in Port Kembla dedicated to making, gathering, playing and creating change.
Ali Gerritsen
Ali is a mother of two young children, having put her artistic career on hold to raise them. During this time, she has been sketching her parental experience and sharing the work on instagram to great community response. Ali spent many years working for Early Start, UOW. Her creative talents have now turned to campaigning, using her artistic expression to translate tricky societal issues into relatable, digestible comics and helping to organise local advocacy events. Her creativity also lends itself to writing, which she does freelance – you may have noticed her name in a few recent issues of Coal Coast Magazine.
Ali studied Creative Arts followed by a Master of Art Therapy. She’s a great artist with a patient, fun teaching style and a quick wit. She’s a regular at Western Suburbs Pool, Wollongong Harbour and paddling with the kids in Byarong Creek.
Elle McNeill
Elle is a maker, graphic designer, home renovator and dog-parent. She is finally a PK local: after moving back from the UK in 2020 (for pandemic-y reasons) and wishing herself south to Port Kembla, she can finally call it home. Her career in London centred around sustainability where she organised events, social, and comms for a start-up. Since returning home she has been working for ANCORS, UOW doing Science Communication and running her own freelance biz. You may have seen her around curating and running the WorkLife markets and workshops, in collab with Coal Coast Magazine.
Elle graduated with a Bachelor of Design from UNSWAD (formerly COFA). She loves making, creating and curating. She’s a regular at Arthur’s Cafe, MM beach …and Bunnings.
